Count Amy Schumer among those of us who were very confused to see her name trending this past week.
On Wednesday, Twitter account @CelinaTruckStop posted a picture of a smiling woman with a teardrop tattoo, writing that she killed a pedestrian after falling asleep at the wheel and got the ink on her face in their honor. The original post garnered nearly 9,000 retweets and 20,000 likes, while a screenshot of the bizarre image collected another 9,000 retweets and 43,000 likes.
The account appears to be for a parody site, according to fact-checking site Snopes, but that didn’t stop the internet from pointing out Schumer’s uncanny resemblance to the woman in the photo. Jokes and questions about whether that was actually Schumer surged on Twitter, causing her to be a trending topic.

Schumer learned about the peculiar situation from her colleagues while shooting her upcoming Hulu comedy series “Life & Beth” in New York.
“I got to set and they were like, ‘You’re trending on Twitter,’ and I’m like, ‘OK, somebody obviously released a sex tape from yesteryear,’ ” Schumer deadpanned, speaking to model/writer Emily Ratajkowski during a live conversation at Tribeca Festival Saturday evening.
